On April 30, Hana Securities announced that it has raised its target price for HYBE(352820) from 310,000 won to 330,000 won, maintaining a “conviction buy” recommendation until the company’s market capitalization reaches 15 trillion won.
The previous day’s closing price was 253,000 won, corresponding to a market capitalization of 10.538 trillion won.
Analyst Kihoon Lee stated, “Although first-quarter earnings were somewhat underwhelming due to the limited comeback activity of affiliated artists, earnings momentum is expected to strengthen in the second quarter, with all male artist lineups scheduled to make their return.”
HYBE’s operating profit for the first quarter was 21.6 billion won, falling short of the market consensus of 31.6 billion won.
Lee projected, “Operating profit in the second quarter is expected to reach 85.4 billion won, approaching an all-time high. The estimated number of albums to be released during the quarter stands at approximately 12 million, the second highest on a quarterly basis, while concert attendance is forecast to reach about 1.1 million, marking the largest quarterly figure on record.”
He further added, “Following BTS’s full-group comeback scheduled for June, we anticipate a profit growth cycle that could more than double over the next two years. Moreover, debut plans for new male groups in Japan, Korea, Latin America, and the United States have become increasingly concrete. Expectations surrounding a potential easing of China’s restrictions on Korean pop culture also contribute to our strong buy recommendation, with a target corporate valuation of 15 trillion won, or a stock price of approximately 350,000 won.”
Lee concluded, “The stock’s upside potential will hinge on the successful debut and performance of the four new male groups, as well as the pace of monetization of Weverse—the fan platform service—following BTS’s full-group comeback.”
