Shinhan Investment Corp. raised its target price for SK hynix (000660) from 320,000 won to 380,000 won on June 30, citing the company's sustained leadership in the high-bandwidth memory (HBM) market and a more favorable operating environment compared to its competitors. SK hynix shares closed at 284,000 won in the previous trading session.
Analysts Kim Hyung-tae and Song Hye-soo wrote in a report, “The share of fifth-generation HBM (HBM3E) 12-layer products increased in the second quarter, which likely improved DRAM profitability. Given that this was accompanied by preemptive inventory demand, we revised up our forecast for DRAM bit growth.”
They added, “With inventory restocking, increased shipments of high-value server racks, and renewed PC replacement demand, SK hynix is expected to report earnings that exceed market expectations. Furthermore, the company is entering a recovery phase in enterprise solid-state drive (eSSD) demand, and the growing adoption of advanced DRAM will help extend its competitive edge in HBM over the long term.” The brokerage maintained SK hynix as its top pick in the sector.
Shinhan Investment projected second-quarter revenue of 20.93 trillion won and operating profit of 9.02 trillion won for SK hynix—both above the consensus estimates of 20.3 trillion won and 8.8 trillion won, respectively. However, the firm expected earnings from the NAND segment to fall short of prior forecasts.
“Supply constraints are likely to persist through year-end, which could support continued price increases for memory semiconductors,” the report noted. “We expect SK hynix’s favorable business conditions compared to peers to last through the first half of 2026,” it concluded.
*[KOSPI] SK hynix(000660) is the second-largest company on the KOSPI specializing in memory semiconductors such as DRAM, NAND flash, and MCP. The market capitalization is 206.39 trillion won (as of June 27, 2025, closing price).
