As of 11:02 a.m., the KOSPI stood at 3,184.10, up 11.75 points (0.37%) from the previous session. The index opened at 3,177.75, up 5.40 points (0.17%), and built on its early gains to maintain upward momentum.
In the main bourse, foreign investors were net buyers of 176.5 billion won, while retail investors and institutions sold 51.8 billion won and 146.0 billion won, respectively. In the KOSPI 200 futures market, however, foreigners posted a net sell of 36.3 billion won.
Samsung Electronics (005930) rose 0.29%, and SK Hynix (000660), which had slipped earlier in the session, rebounded to gain 0.96%.
LS Electric (010120) climbed 5.84% after announcing a 64 billion won supply contract with a U.S. big tech company. Hanwha Aerospace (012450) gained 1.18%, Hyundai Motor (005380) advanced 1.14%, Kia (000270) added 0.37%, LG Energy Solution (373220) rose 0.29%, and Samsung Biologics (207940) was up 0.70%.
In contrast, shipbuilders weakened, with HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (329180) down 1.36% and Hanwha Ocean (042660) off 1.95%. Other notable decliners included Celltrion (068270), down 0.12%; NAVER (035420), down 1.56%; and Samsung Life Insurance (032830), down 1.05%.
By sector, construction rose 0.74%, retail gained 0.71%, and electrical and electronics advanced 0.55%, while insurance slipped 0.89% and food & beverages fell 0.60%.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ stood at 795.20, up 1.20 points (0.15%). The index opened at 793.28, down 0.72 points (0.09%), moved narrowly lower, and later turned upward.
Among KOSDAQ stocks, LigaChem Biosciences (141080) rose 1.16%, HLB (028300) gained 1.65%, ABL Bio (298380) added 1.08%, LIG Nex1 (033920) climbed 0.66%, and Kolon TissueGene (950160) rose 0.53%.
Losers included Alteogen (196170), down 0.11%; EcoPro BM (247540), down 0.50%; EcoPro (086520), down 0.60%; Peptron (087010), down 3.04%; and PharmaResearch (214450), down 3.66%.
