On October 15, Doosan Enerbility (034020) surged amid growing expectations for additional gas turbine orders.
According to MP Doctor, as of 9:57 a.m., the company’s shares were trading at 81,600 won, up 7.65% from the previous session. During the session, the stock climbed as high as 77,200 won, marking a new 52-week high.
On October 13, Doosan Enerbility announced that it had signed a contract with a major U.S. tech company to supply two 380MW-class gas turbines, with delivery scheduled by the end of next year.
This marks Doosan Enerbility’s first-ever gas turbine supply deal in the overseas market. The company successfully localized large-scale power generation gas turbines in 2019 through collaboration among domestic industry, academia, and research institutions, becoming the fifth company globally to secure the technology.
After achieving 15,000 hours of performance verification at the Gimpo Combined Heat and Power Plant, Doosan has now signed contracts for a total of eight gas turbines, expanding its business footprint.
Jung Hye-jung, an analyst at KB Securities, said, “Given the characteristics of bridge power sources, where rapid deployment is key, Doosan Enerbility’s U.S. gas turbine supply contract is expected to mark the start of a full-fledged acceleration phase.” She added, “Beyond the two confirmed orders, the company is reportedly in talks with several U.S. big tech firms for the supply of more than eight additional turbines, suggesting that further order announcements could materialize by the end of this year or early next year.”
