Investor sentiment improved after it was announced that Alteogen had resolved its patent dispute risk following a technology transfer agreement with AstraZeneca. Alteogen disclosed that it had entered into a technology transaction agreement with AstraZeneca’s subsidiary, MedImmune, to develop subcutaneous(SC) treatments using its "Hybrozyme"(ALT-B4) platform technology.
The market sees this agreement as resolving the patent dispute with U.S. company Halozyme. Shinhan Securities’ analyst Eom Min-yong commented, "Alteogen has signed a contract worth 2 trillion won with AstraZeneca for the development of three SC treatments. This contract value and the upfront payment are the largest ever seen compared to the sales of Merck's Keytruda SC."
He added, "If there had been continued uncertainty due to the Halozyme patent dispute, such a contract would not have been possible. With this announcement, the patent dispute issue with Halozyme is now fully resolved."
