As of 11:18 a.m., the KOSPI stood at 3,251.34, down 3.13 points (0.10%) from the previous session. The index opened 21.31 points (0.65%) higher at 3,275.78, fluctuated within a narrow range, and then shifted to modest losses.
In the main bourse, institutional investors posted net sales of 413.1 billion won, while individual and foreign investors recorded net purchases of 239.4 billion won and 119.7 billion won, respectively. In the KOSPI 200 futures market, foreign investors were net sellers of 796.7 billion won.
Shares of Samsung Electronics (005930) extended early losses, declining 1.52%, while auto stocks such as Hyundai Motor (005380) and Kia (000270) deepened their losses, down 3.81% and 5.62%, respectively.
Other notable decliners included Samsung Biologics (207940), down 2.37%, KB Financial Group (105560), down 2.04%, Celltrion (068270), down 0.83%, and NAVER (035420), down 0.43%.
Conversely, SK hynix (000660) gained 3.61%, regaining the 270,000-won mark, while shipbuilding stocks such as Hanwha Ocean (042660) jumped 13.13%.
Hanwha Aerospace (012450), which briefly entered the “one million club” earlier in the session, trimmed gains and hovered around the 1 million won level. LG Energy Solution (373220) was up 0.89%, and Doosan Enerbility (034020) edged up 0.16%.
By sector, pharmaceuticals (-1.70%), precision medical devices (-1.37%), and insurance (-1.17%) led the losses, while entertainment & media (2.52%) and paper & wood products (1.39%) posted gains.
