PIE, a company specializing in AI-powered vision inspection and data-driven smart factory solutions, held an IPO press conference in Seoul on January 6, unveiling its long-term growth plans as it aims to list on the KOSDAQ market.

Choi Jung-il, CEO of PIE, stated, “PIE is the only company globally offering both AI vision solutions and data-driven smart factory solutions. Through the KOSDAQ listing, we plan to advance our software technology, positioning ourselves as a global leader across advanced industries beyond secondary batteries.”

Founded in 2018, PIE has focused on software development over hardware like materials and equipment, achieving a streamlined business model. The company specializes in two core areas: AI vision solutions and data-driven smart factory solutions, leveraging expertise in machine vision, image processing, and AI technologies.

“Our AI vision software is regarded as next-generation technology with superior detection capabilities and the ability to address complex challenges compared to traditional machine vision systems, especially as manufacturing processes in advanced industries become more intricate and yield competition intensifies,” Choi stated.

The company’s proprietary AI inspection software has reduced stabilization periods in pouch battery processes—known for their high shape variability—from three months to just two weeks, a 67% improvement. It also detects anomalies, including rare robot malfunctions occurring at a probability of one in a million, and proactively identifies environmental changes such as aging hardware and positional shifts.

PIE also offers a data-driven smart factory solution that integrates, collects, analyzes, monitors, and predicts outcomes using accumulated inspection data. Its modularized software for vision inspection enables customized solutions tailored to client needs.

“By delivering only the essential modules requested by clients, we have optimized costs and improved responsiveness,” Choi explained. “With this customizable approach, PIE is the only domestic company capable of applying its technology across all secondary battery types and processes, resulting in an average annual revenue growth of 34% from 2021 to 2023.”

Expanding its AI expertise in secondary battery inspection, PIE is developing solutions for other industries, including non-destructive testing(NDT) using ultrasound, X-ray, and CT imaging technologies.

“With funds raised through the IPO, we plan to further strengthen our AI-based software capabilities,” Choi said. “Our focus will be on expanding our business scope to emerge as a global leader in AI solutions for industries such as semiconductors, automotive, and pharmaceuticals, beyond secondary batteries.”

PIE plans to issue 3.6 million shares in its IPO, with a target price range of 4,000 to 5,000 won per share. The company aims to raise approximately 14.4 billion won based on the lower end of the price range. Institutional demand forecasting will take place from January 8–14, followed by retail subscription on January 20–21. The company expects to list on the KOSDAQ market in February.
