Shares of HYBE(352820) surged after all members of girl group NewJeans, who had been embroiled in an exclusive contract dispute with HYBE’s label ADOR, expressed their intention to return to the agency.
As of 10:05 a.m. on the 13th, HYBE was trading at 304,500, up 13,500 (4.64%) from the previous day.
Investor sentiment strengthened on news that NewJeans will return to ADOR after a year-long legal battle.
The previous day, all five NewJeans members conveyed their intention to return to ADOR. ADOR announced in an official statement that members Hyein and Haerin had decided to continue their activities. Two hours and 30 minutes later, the remaining members Minji, Hanni, and Danielle also expressed their intention to return, and ADOR is currently verifying the details.
Brokerages projected that this development could contribute at least 20 to 30 billion in profit starting in 2027. Meritz Securities raised its target price for HYBE from 370,000 to 380,000.
Kim Min-young, analyst at Meritz Securities, said, “This marks the beginning of a gradual recovery phase for ADOR’s core intellectual property (IP) activities, which had been on hold,” adding, “Although confirmation is needed on the company’s official stance regarding schedules and plans for all members, visibility has improved for resuming album, content, and tour activities for at least two members starting next year.”
