On November 26, LS ELECTRIC(010120) said that it has signed a USD 312.04 million (approximately KRW 460 billion) contract to supply ultra-high-voltage transformers to a major private U.S. power utility company.
According to the company, this marks the largest single ultra-high-voltage transformer supply contract LS ELECTRIC has ever secured.
Under the agreement, LS ELECTRIC will supply transformers with voltage ratings up to 525 kilovolts (kV) to renewable power plants that will serve as the main electricity sources for a large-scale data center complex being developed in the southeastern United States. Deliveries will take place from 2027 to 2029.
As of 12:28 p.m. on November 26, Korea Electric Power Corp.(015760) was trading at 447,000 won, up 7,000 won (1.59%) from the previous session.
The company noted that expanding its supply range from its existing core product lines of 115kV and 354kV units to 525kV transformers carries significant strategic meaning.
With this latest contract, LS ELECTRIC’s backlog of ultra-high-voltage transformer orders has surpassed KRW 2 trillion. The company’s total order backlog stood at around KRW 4.1 trillion as of the third quarter.
A company official said, “This contract demonstrates that a global energy infrastructure company has validated LS ELECTRIC’s technological capabilities and recognized us as a sustainable long-term partner,” adding, “We will accelerate our expansion in North America’s hyperscale data center, renewable energy and power utility markets to secure leadership in the region’s ultra-high-voltage segment.”
